Program pushes fathers to be good role models

BOYLE HEIGHTS, Calif.

The project, which launched Friday, is put together by the National Latino Fatherhood and Family Institute.

The idea is to help men, fathers in particular, take responsibility to make a positive impact on their children and also in their communities.

"It's time for men to stand up and for us to take responsibility first of all for our own lives so we can live a productive life that's healthy and a good example, so we can be good partners to the women as well, and that we can be good examples, good fathers, uncles, grandfathers, mentors," said Jerry Tello with the National Latino Fatherhood and Family Institute.

The initiative includes a pledge called, Men Taking Responsibility, and the goal is to get 10,000 men to sign by this Father's Day.
