The Long Beach City Council is set to vote on an ordinance that would ban the use of single-use plastic bags at grocery stores.

The measure would also allow stores to collect 10 cents for each paper bag used in its place.

A town hall meeting was held Saturday morning at the Long Beach Water Treatment Plant to discuss pros and cons of the issue.

On Dec. 7, the council voted to have an ordinance drafted that would duplicate the one adopted by Los Angeles County.
