James Franco is set to teach a college course based on his career called "Master Class: Editing James Franco ... with James Franco," OnTheRedCarpet.com has confirmed.

Alan Gansberg, Dean of Columbia College Hollywood in Tarzana, California said, "James Franco has co-created a course for us at CCH."

According to a statement released by the college to Movieline, "12 of the private film school's best editing students will create a 30 minute documentary film from videographic footage from Mr. Franco's own unorthodox career,"

The actor "is providing the footage - much of it from behind the scenes on short films he has directed - and the conception for the course and will speak to the students weekly via live feed (Skype) and attend class the weekly class sessions when his schedule allows."

The course is just one in a long line of eccentric career moves for the actor, who is set to host the 2011 Academy Awards. The 32-year-old actor will reprise his character of serial killer Franco on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital" this month.

He began playing his recurring role on "General Hospital" in November 2009 and his character has appeared in at least 40 episodes over the past year, with the most recent airing in August.

The actor also has a well established history in academics. He recently received his Master of Fine Arts at Columbia University in 2010 and has studied at New York University. He is enrolled as a Ph. D. student at Yale University. He graduated from University of California, Los Angeles in 2008.
