LAUSD pushes back plan to start school early

LOS ANGELES

Under the new schedule, classes will begin in the middle of August, rather than September.

The district wanted to start the new calendar this fall, but complaints from parents and teachers convinced the district to wait another year.

Many say they had already made plans for the summer that would conflict with the new schedule.

That means this year, the first day of classes will fall sometime after Labor Day.
