The already-complicated attempted murder case took a new twist when Yvonne Stern decided to stand by her husband, who will appear in court Friday to face two counts of solicitation of capital murder.
Prosecutors said Jeffrey Stern plotted with his mistress to kill his wife.
The wife survived three attempts on her life and filed for divorce after the last one. But she has since changed her mind and reconciled with her husband.
"She has forgiven him for his affair," said Paul Nugent, Stern's attorney. "She doesn't need to forgive him for the attempts on her life because she knows he had nothing to do with it."
The mistress and four others are also charged in connection with the case.
One of the men has pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The husband, a successful Houston attorney, is free on bail.
