The chase started at about 12:30 a.m. on the Ventura (101) Freeway near Winnetka Avenue when police tried to stop the vehicle. Police say the suspect was driving erratically.
It ended about 30 minutes later at a home near Tampa Avenue and Valerio Street in Reseda.
"It was like a screech then a 'bam,' and then you hear helicopters and cop sirens all around," said resident Kevin Quash.
The suspect drove his Honda right into the house. Everyone inside the home was sleeping at the time, but no one was hurt. The residents said it sounded like an earthquake.
"I was super-worried because that was in the direction of my mom's bedroom, and so I got out, ran to my mom's room," Quash said.
The driver was injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Police said he suffered several broken bones.
Witnesses said the crash was shocking.
"I was hanging out with some friends a couple of blocks away, and out of nowhere you just see the helicopter rushing and we could see like a bunch of cop cars," said Reseda resident Felipe Jimenez. "We just like walked over here, literally, and we just saw the Honda crash into the house. It's pretty crazy."
Police said the suspect is a parolee. He is facing several charges, including felony evading and driving under the influence.
