OTRC: Miranda Lambert's happiness bad for music career?

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton married in May 2010 when the two exchanged vows in Boerne, Texas. 'I'm excited to get married,' Lambert, 27, told The Associated Press in a recent interview. 'It's been a year almost that we've been engaged. So I'm just sort of ready for it to get here.' The couple has been dating for six years and 34-year-old Shelton proposed in May 2010. It is the first marriage for Lambert while Shelton was married to Kaynette Williams between 2003 and 2006. They had no children. Is Miranda Lambert's happiness, spurred partially by her engagement to Blake Shelton, hurting her country music career?

Lambert, 27, and Shelton, a 34-year-old fellow singer, met six years ago and began dating in 2006. The two have performed and recorded music together and won Country Music Association Awards in November.

They became engaged in 2010 and plan to wed in the spring.

"Being happy is horrible for songwriting, especially for country music," Lambert told Ladies Home Journal in a recent interview. "We just want to write about leaving and sadness. We're all better when we're tormented. I have to put myself in a dark place if I want to write something good."

Her mother, Bev, told the magazine: "With Blake ... Miranda has laughed more in the last five years than she has in her entire life."

Lambert has not commented on the date of their wedding. This will mark her first marriage. Shelton was married to Kaynette Williams between 2003 and 2006. They have no children.

Lambert told reporters at a press conference following an announcement of the 2011 Grammy Award nominations that she was looking forward to getting married. She is nominated for five Grammys (See a full list of nominations).

Lambert is also set to perform at the 2011 Grammy Awards, whose ceremony takes place on February 13. Others set to sing during the show include Mick Jagger, Cee Lo Green, pop star Katy Perry, indie rock band Arcade Fire and more.
