Justin Bieber's new film about his life, "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never," is set to open in theaters across the United States on Friday but tens of thousands of fans have already purchased $30 tickets for special advance screenings on Wednesday.

The film depicts the 16-year-old's rise from street performer in Canada to a YouTube phenomenon to an international pop star. Bieber is the protege of R&B singer Usher. He has collaborated with many music stars, such as Ludacris and Sean Kingston. He is so popular that he is often seen with scores of female fans following him around.

"Everyone thinks this is going to be another 3D concert movie, but it's anything but that," Bieber said in a statement provided by Paramount Pictures in November. "It's a story of how my family, friends and the fans helped me get here and everyday are helping me live an impossible dream. That's why I want them to see it first."

Tickets to most new 3D studio movies usually cost between $12 and $15. Those who bought tickets to the some 300 advance screenings of "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never," were also set to receive a pair of limited edition purple "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" RealD 3D glasses, a souvenir VIP event lanyard and an official branded glow stick and bracelet.

More than 60,000 such tickets have been sold for about $2 million, the Hollywood Reporter said, adding that half of that sum is set to be reported as box-office revenues and half will be applied to merchandising.

Last year, Bieber made his acting debut on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", released two albums and a memoir and inspired a line of nail polish.

Bieber's love life has also been the subject of curiosity. He and Disney Channel star Selena Gomez were recently photographed holding hands in Los Angeles, fueling rumors of a possible romance that surfaced late last year. Gomez has said in the past it would be "illegal" for her to hook up with the underage singer.
