Some Monrovia residents are on alert after a mountain lion was seen prowling in their neighborhood.

"I look over across the street and sure enough I see two paws walking behind a car," said Arnel Azarcon, who saw the mountain lion. "Then a couple seconds later I see the mountain lion's head and he was about two and a half feet tall and about six to eight feet long."

The mountain lion has been spotted at least twice, both times during evening hours. The sightings happened on the 1100 block of Norumbega Road.

California Fish and Game is monitoring the situation. Authorities are encouraging residents to be watchful of their surroundings and keep a close eye on children and pets.
