Michael Vick cancels 'Oprah' appearance

CHICAGO

Vick's representatives called the show Tuesday night saying he had to cancel his appearance for personal reasons.

The interview, which was set to air Thursday, Feb. 24, was supposed to cover the dogfighting case, Vick's prison time, his work with the Humane Society and his return to the NFL.

In a statement, Vick said he admires and respects Winfrey and hopes to participate in an interview in the future.

Vick served 18 months in prison for his involvement in an illegal dogfighting operation. In 2007, several dogs were seized from his property in Surry County, Va.

He was reinstated to the NFL for the 2009 season and has been doing public-service work, including with the Humane Society.

This is the 25th and final season of "/*The Oprah Winfrey Show*/."
