A May 16 extradition hearing has set in Los Angeles federal court. /*Beresford-Redman*/ is accused of killing his wife Monica Burgos during a vacation in Cancun last year.
He fled Mexican authorities, but was arrested months later at his home in Southern California.
Beresford-Redman remains in federal custody pending the hearing, which will determine whether enough evidence exists to extradite him back to Mexico to face trial.
The body of 41-year-old Burgos was found April 8, 2010, in a sewage tank at the Moon Palace hotel in Cancun. She had been reportedly struck on the head with a bat-like object, her face had been pummeled and her body had trauma consistent with being thrown against the hotel-room Jacuzzi. The cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation.
