OTRC: James Franco signs up for Twitter and Facebook

On top of his acting, directing, writing, college course work, teaching and Oscar hosting duties, actor James Franco has officially joined Facebook and Twitter.

The actor and Oscar nominee joined Twitter on Friday saying, "Hi everybody, here I am on Twitter! This is my FIRST tweet." He also posted a video to verify with his fans that it was in fact, James Franco Tweeting.

The "127 Hours" star is set to host the 2011 Academy Awards on February 27 with Anne Hathaway. 32-year-old Franco will reprise his character of serial killer Franco on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital" this month.

In early February OnTheRedCarpet.com confirmed that the actor will be teaching a college course based on his career called "Master Class: Editing James Franco ... with James Franco."

Alan Gansberg, Dean of Columbia College Hollywood in Tarzana, California said, "James Franco has co-created a course for us at CCH."

Franco also has a well established history in academics. He recently received his Master of Fine Arts at Columbia University in 2010 and has studied at New York University. He is enrolled as a Ph. D. student at Yale University. He graduated from University of California, Los Angeles in 2008.
