"Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere will soon be seen on the big screen in "Scream 4" alongside Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. The original cast is reprising their roles in the fourth installment of the horror series, which is directed by Wes Craven.
"It's an honor. It really is," Panettiere told OnTheRedCarpet.com about appearing in the film. "Having spent four years on a show where it's in the sci-fi sort of family, you tend to get a lot of scripts having to do with horror films and thrillers. And it's something I wanted to be very careful about which one I chose to do."
She added, "When 'Scream' came along and having the original cast involved and having Wes Craven direct it, it just seemed like an amazing project that I just wanted to be involved it."
"I haven't seen it year, I haven't," Panettiere says about the finished "Scream 4" film. "But I hear it's amazing."
Others set to star in "Scream 4" include Kristen Bell, Anna Paquin, Alison Brie of "Mad Men," Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Anthony Anderson, Adam Brody, Marley Shelton and Mary McDonnell.
The previous three "Scream" films have made more than $300 million in the United States. In the fourth, Sidney Prescott, played by Campbell, is visited by the masked killer again. The film is set for release on April 15, 2011.
As for Panettiere, the star gearing up for the premiere of her controversial Lifetime film "Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy," which premieres on February 21.
"The way the film was put together and the way it was done, it's really done in a wonderful way. It's very fact driven, very fact based," the actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a satellite interview recently. "I understand there's controversy around it is done in an wonderful way and it doesn't incriminate her or change anyone's mind when it comes to court."
