Academy Awards pre-parties are in full swing

HANCOCK PARK, Calif.

The Getty House is /*Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's*/ residence. But Thursday it was home to celebrity's biggest names because apparently the /*Academy Awards*/ just isn't big enough. The Hollywood Reporter is hosted a kick-off party called "The Hollywood Reporter Nominees Night."

Kevin Spacey, Amy Adams, John Cusack, Sharon Stone, Michael Mann and many others are on the guest list.

Of course this isn't the only hub of activity. Down around the /*Kodak Theatre*/ crews are working feverishly to set up the bleachers, cameras and red carpet. There's just three days left before the stars work their way down that carpet and into the world's most famous film awards ceremony.

And all eyes are on the weather. The red carpet is protected, and there are plastic tents over the bleachers and other areas.

Also on Thursday, Wolfgang Puck, the celebrity chef for the post-Oscars /*Governor's Ball*/, gave the media a sneak peak of what he will be serving. Here's a hint, the chow will have the usual /*Oscar*/ theme.

But Thursday the hottest ticket in town is the Hollywood Reporter party.

"This is a big deal," said Editorial Director Janice Min. "This is a big night to celebrate the nominees. Hollywood Reporter had a big makeover recently. This is the first event we are doing post-makeover. A lot of big names are going to be here, a lot of our own staff. It should be fun. To me this is the kickoff of the Oscar weekend."

The stars are getting a head start easing into a weekend full of parties.
