Michelle Obama hosts history of Motown event

/*John Legend*/ performed as part of an hour-long music history lesson. Smokey Robinson was there along with Berry Gordy, who founded the Motown record label.

Local teen Erica Hernandez, who is from the Huntington Park area, said she was really moved by the event.

"Maybe you don't want to be in politics like as a governor or something, but through music you really can change your world and the country," said Hernandez.

Hernandez said young people need to appreciate the music of the past in order to understand the music of today.
