Stranded hiker rescued near Sierra Madre

SIERRA MADRE, Calif.

Sierra Madre Search and Rescue teams reached the man on a ridge just after 3 a.m.

The 30 year old went out for a hike Saturday, but couldn't find his way back after snow fell on his tracks.

The man had his cellphone and was able to call for help.

"We came in and had crews come in from several different directions to get him," said Art Fortini of the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue. "He was well away from any trail, so our crews were bushwhacking, rock climbing, scrambling and we eventually got a crew to him and escorted him back down."

Officials said the man was a bit chilled, but otherwise fine.

He was able to walk out on his own.
