Lady Gaga's music video for her new single, "Born This Way," was released on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 and showcases the pop star with an eyeball on her chin, fake horns and pointy shoulders, as well as scenes of her dancing in chained lingerie.
The 24-year-old singer, an advocate of gay rights, has said the video marks "the birth of a new race" that bears no prejudice. Lady Gaga also said she lost 10 pounds before she filmed the clip.
She performed the song earlier this month at the 2011 Grammy Awards, during which she appeared inside a giant egg and won three prizes.
Many have said "Born This Way" sounds like Madonna's 1980s song, "Express Yourself." Comparisons between the two have often been made. Both have showcased risque fashion choices. Lady Gaga has appeared on the cover of magazines and in her music videos dressed in outfits similar to those worn by Madonna.
Lady Gaga's second studio album, also called "Born This Way," is set for release on May 23, 2011. The singer promised fans at a concert stop in Poland in November that the record will be the "greatest album of this decade." It has been reported that the record may contain up to 20 tracks.
Maria Aragon, a 10-year-old girl from Canada, became the latest YouTube sensation to achieve international fame thanks to her of "Born This Way" and recently performed the song on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" as well as on ABC's "Good Morning America."
