People gathered at a rally Monday to support more funding for Los Angeles city libraries.

Councilman Bernard Parks was among those at the closed Angeles Mesa Branch Library in the Crenshaw District, urging people to vote for Measure L.

The measure, on next week's ballot, would change the city charter to allocate a higher percentage of property tax revenues to libraries.

The money would be used to restore library hours and services lost in previous cuts.
