Maria first made the news for her friendship with Dominic Ehrler. She would faithfully follow him around the park during his daily walks.
The lake is going to be drained for repairs and remodeling, and the birds in the lake had to be temporarily relocated.
Responding to public demand, L.A. officials say Maria will be given a temporary home at the L.A. Zoo while repairs to the lake are being done.
After the work is complete, Maria will be returned to her home.
