A suspected dog fighting operation was shut down in the Antelope Valley on Wednesday at a home where 17 dogs were found.

L.A. County Sheriff's deputies responded to the Lake Los Angeles home in the 41000 block of 178th Street East and seized 17 pit bulls, a portable fighting ring covered in blood, training treadmills and medical supplies to treat the dogs' injuries.

Deputies also found training records for the dogs and study guides on dog breeding.

Jesse Jimenez, 34, and Yvette Jimenez, 41, were arrested, and the couple's four children, ages 1, 10, 12, and 14, were taken into protective custody. Deputies said both suspects admitted to their roles in the activity.

Sheriff's deputies say they also found cocaine at the home.

According to authorities, someone reported the operation on the L.A. County Dog Fighting Tipline, which is (877) NO-2-FITE.
