Charlie Sheen has broken a Guinness World Record for gaining 1 million Twitter followers the fastest.

The troubled actor opened a social networking account on Tuesday and reached the milestone in 25 hours and 17 minutes, between Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Thank you Twitter community for the warm reception and the followers that helped get me to 1M in 24 hours!!!" a message on Sheen's Twitter page said.

Sheen, 45, has sparked a media firestorm over his on-air rants against the co-creator of "Two and a Half Men," which halted production last month due to his behavior and suspended filming in January after the actor began treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.

Over the past week, Sheen, who has undergone rehab numerous times, parted ways with his publicist and discussed in television interviews his self-proclaimed "rock star" lifestyle and grievances with his employers. He is also currently involved in a custody battle over his twin sons with estranged wife Brooke Mueller.

As of Thursday afternoon, more than 1.3 million are following Sheen on Twitter. Scores of his fans are also quoting lines and phrases from his many on-air rants, notably "Tiger Blood," and "Winning."

"Face it folks, you just feel better when you say it. #WINNING," Sheen Tweeted late on Wednesday.

Donald Trump said earlier this week that Sheen's on-air rants are "unbelievable entertainment" and added that the actor is welcome to one day compete in his reality series "The Celebrity Apprentice."

Sheen and Mueller married in 2008. The actor filed for divorce from Mueller in November. Since then, she has also undergone rehab.

Mueller recently filed a temporary restraining order against him and had authorities remove his twin sons from his house. Mueller, his third wife, claims he used domestic violence against her, which he has denied. (Watch a video of Sheen at a press conference following the incident).

Sheen said on Thursday he "reached a deal" over the matter but offered no further details.

Sheen also set a Guinness World Record in 2010, becoming the actor to earn the most money per television episode. He was reportedly earning $1.25 million per show. The actor has in recent weeks demanded to be paid $3 million.
