Slain baby's mother speaks out about incident

PALMDALE, Calif.

Her former boyfriend was shot dead by sheriff's deputies after he stabbed the baby multiple times.

Avion Moore, 18, says when she took her 5-month-old son Christopher Glass Jr. to a babysitter Tuesday morning, it was the last time she saw her son before he was abducted and stabbed to death by Christopher Glass, Avion's former boyfriend and her son's father.

"I was putting him in his car seat and he just smiled and I told them 'I don't want to let him go,'" said Moore.

Moore says she had custody of Christopher Jr. and the boy's father had monitored visitation rights. She says soon after dropping her son off at the baby sitter's house and leaving, she got the horrifying news the Glass had kidnapped their son.

Glass took the baby from his sister's house. He text-messaged Moore to meet him, and that if she refused, he would harm the baby. He told her he had a knife and he would kill the baby if she didn't come out.

"I didn't write him back. I called the police," said Moore.

An Amber Alert was issued. Moore says since breaking up with Glass due to their often stormy, abusive relationship, he threatened to come back into her life.

Asked if she thought he would actually harm his son, Moore said no. "I thought it was going to be me before his son," said Moore.

When L.A. County Sheriff's deputies closed in on Glass in his SUV there was a short pursuit. It ended when Glass rammed the vehicle into a bus stop at the Metrolink station at Clock Tower Drive in Palmdale.

Deputies say they saw Glass stab his son before taking off on foot and trying to break into a nearby house, where deputies shot him to death. Christopher Jr. died at the hospital.

"I just want to go with my baby, that's it," said Moore.
