Oxnard man broke into a home while victim was asleep

Oxnard police have arrested a man who allegedly broke into a woman's home while she was asleep Thursday morning.

Oxnard police have arrested a man who allegedly broke into a woman's home Thursday morning.

Police said 21-year-old Evaristo Santos Paredes broke into an occupied residence in the 100 block of Navarro Street.

An adult female was asleep in the same room where the suspect made his entry. Paredes, who was wearing a mask, became involved in an altercation with the woman before fleeing.

Police arrested Paredes in the 1300 block of East Third Street shortly after. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail on charges of battery and burglary. Bail was set at $50,000.

The victim, a 25 year-old female, received minor injuries that did not require treatment.
