Man charged for driving with wife on car hood

MANTECA, Calif.

Christopher Carroll faces attempted murder charges. He is accused of speeding from Manteca to Pleasanton with his wife clinging to the minivan's windshield wiper blade.

Thursday, Carroll admitted his guilt, but the judge refused his plea and ordered him to appear next week for further arraignment.

"I did that to my wife," Carroll said. "I did all of that to my wife. I'm guilty"

According to police, Carroll's wife got stuck on the van when she tried to stop him from driving away from their home during an argument.

When he eventually slowed down, she was able to get off and was treated for hypothermia.

Carroll is being held without bail.
