Skippy recalls reduced fat peanut butter jars

LOS ANGELES

Some of the 16.3-ounce plastic jars were sent to stores in Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The affected jars have UPC numbers 048001006812 and 048001006782 and have "best if used by" dates of May 16-21, 2012.

No other Skippy products are affected by the recall.

As of Friday, no illnesses related to the issue had been reported.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled peanut butter jars were urged to discard the product immediately and call the company for a replacement coupon. Consumers can contact the company at 1-800-453-3432.
