A spokesperson for the University of Mississippi Medical Center said Iles was admitted on Monday night but did not provide any other details regarding the author's condition.
Local law enforcement said Iles, who lives in Natchez, was injured when his car collided with a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 61.
Iles has written a number of books including "The Devil's Punchbowl."
