CA appeals court gives OK for LAUSD layoffs

LOS ANGELES

The court refused to delay a settlement that would protect 45 of the lowest performing schools from layoffs.

The /*American Civil Liberties Union*/ of Southern California said the ruling is a victory for students at problem schools which usually have a high turnover of teachers.

The teachers union said the ruling means that other schools will feel more impact from layoffs. The union may seek a stay from the Supreme Court.
