Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" films, has been named the newest spokesmodel for Lancome.
"Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become the icon of her generation," Watson's website quoted Youcef Nabi, President of Lancome International, as saying. "We are delighted by this new collaboration with Emma who brings a fresh spirit to Lancome."
The news comes a week after the 20-year-old actress announced her plans to leave Brown University to concentrate on her career, saying it was "a little impossible" to juggle her student responsibilities along with her other commitments. The French cosmetics and skincare company had reportedly reached a six-figure deal with Watson, the UK newspaper the Daily Mail reported in February.
Actresses such as Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet and Anne Hathaway have all been spokesmodels for Lancome in the past.
Watson has modeled for fashion house Burberry before and has made bold style choices in the past. Last year, she showed off a new pixie haircut after filming the final two-part "Harry Potter" movie, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."
The UK actress, who was born in France, was voted Best Dressed British Woman by Glamour magazine in 2010.
