Brad Womack and "Bachelor" winner Emily Maynard are currently together and "could not be happier," show host Chris Harrison says, following the finale of the 15th season of ABC's hit dating series, which aired on Monday.
Womack, 38, proposed to Maynard, a 25-year-old children's hospital event planner from Charlotte, North Carolina, on the last episode and she accepted.
Recent reports have suggested the two broke up after the season finished filming months ago, but Harrison said this was untrue.
"They're together in Austin right now," he told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "They just want to get away. They went out last night for the first time in public. I know they're happy, because I've already talked to them. They're doing great - could not be happier and together and in love and moving forward. I think they just wanted to get out of the spotlight and deal with this relationship."
Womack and Maynard said in a statement carried by Warner Bros. Television on Tuesday that they are "madly in love" but have undergone a "bumpy couple of months.
"What's happened since then is them just trying to live this life and be together, deal with the tabloids, deal with watching the show, which Emily's had a tough time with," Harrison said. "She's self-admittedly insecure and watching his relationship with other women, especially Chantal, was tough."
Chantal O'Brien, a 28-year-old executive assistant from Seattle, Washington, came in second place on "The Bachelor." O'Brien, Harrison said, had fallen in love with someone else while filming "The Bachelor." She is currently dating Jeff Razore, a Seattle businessman, People magazine said.
She's in love," Harrison said. "Broke the rules, fell in love while the show was going on. Good for her."
