Rihanna says she recently realized she likes her body, "even if it's not perfect."
The 23-year-old singer, who has in recent years showed off a slim and curvy figure, enlisted the help of a trainer with several black belts to help get into shape for her first film - "Battleship." In the movie, set for release in May 2012, Rihanna plays an ammunitions specialist.
"Over the holidays, and even during filming, I realized that I actually like my body, even if it's not perfect according to the book," Rihanna told Vogue magazine in an interview set to be published in its April 2011 issue.
"I just feel sexy. For the first time, I don't want to get rid of the curves. I just want to tone it up. My body is comfortable, and it's not unhealthy, so I'm going to rock with it."
She did not disclose whether she lost weight for "Battleship." During her training, Rihanna used a spinning bike and exercised with weights strapped to her hands, Vogue said.
"Battleship" also stars Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker and Alexander Skarsgard from the HBO vampire series "True Blood" and depicts the Navy's battle against invading aliens.
Meanwhile, Rihanna is gearing up to go on tour and fellow Grammy-winner and "Forget You" singer Cee Lo Green is set to join her. She will perform in cities such as Los Angeles, Uniondale, NY and Toronto to help promote her latest album, "Loud."
