Foothills start 10-day water usage cutback

LA VERNE, Calif.

Officials want residents of La Crescenta, Altadena, San Dimas, Pasadena, Walnut, Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights and La Canada Flintridge to cut their water by 40 percent, because the F.E. Weymouth Treatment Plant in La Verne will be shut down for 10 days for seismic retrofitting and maintenance.

In Pasadena, city employees will patrol to see who is in compliance.

Those who are not could be fined $500.

Water district officials are asking residents of the affected areas to cut back on water usage through such practices as:

  • No outdoor watering
  • No filling pools
  • Cut down on laundry
  • Cut down on washing dishes
  • Shorten showers
  • Don't wash the car
