The /*California Highway Patrol*/ says the chase started in Oxnard when a truck driver changed northbound lanes near the Del Norte Rd. exit and struck a motorcyclist.
The driver kept going, but an off-duty officer trailed him and called 911.
The suspect swerved to avoid spike strips in Santa Barbara, rear-ended a CHP cruiser and wound up in the center divider.
He was Tasered and arrested after a short foot chase. The CHP officer wasn't hurt.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not identified.
