OTRC: Kristen Wiig says 'Paul' is the friendliest alien since ET - See video

Kristen Wiig tells OnTheRedCarpet.com it's refreshing to meet a friendly alien at the Hollywood premiere of 'Paul.'

Kristen Wiig, 37, talked to OnTheRedCarpet.com about why she got involved in the 'friendly alien' movie "Paul," at the film's Hollywood premiere on March 14, 2011.

"It's sort of refeshing to see a friendly alien," Wiig told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "It hasn't really happened in awhile. I mean, ET of course, that was an iconic alien who was nice."

"Paul" follows two sci-fi nerds named Willy (Simon Pegg) and Clive (Nick Frost) make a pilgrimage to America's UFO heartland, Area 51 in Nevada. When they get there, they meet an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) who has escaped the military base where he had been held for 60 years. When Paul joins the two on a road trip, federal agents (Jason Bateman, Bill Hader, and Joe Lo Truglio) and the father of a young woman (Wiig) that they accidentally kidnapped start following them.

The film also features performances by Jane Lynch, Blythe Danner, John Carroll Lynch, David Koechner and Sigourney Weaver.

When asked about why she wanted to join the cast of "Paul," Wiig was enthusiastic about everyone involved.

"A million reasons, Greg [Mottola the director], first of all, I've worked with him a few times I would and will always love to work with him," Wiig told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "Simon and Nick, I mean I've been fans for years and the rest of the cast, I can't even begin to list everybody. It was a no-brainer. I'm so happy that I got to be a part of it."

Unlike several of her co-stars, Wiig admit that she did believe there are other life forms in the galaxy.

"There's a lot of space out there," Wiig said. "There's probably something out there, right?"

Wiig is a "Saturday Night Live" cast-member and has appeared in movies like "Knocked Up," "Whip It" and "MacGruber."

Wiig's next project, which she also wrote and co-produced is "Bridesmaids" which also stars Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph and Rose Byrne and is set for release on May 13, 2011.

"Paul" is set for release on March 18, 2011. Watch the trailer below.
