Chris Brown says that while he's excited to promote his album of his new album "F.A.M.E." that hits shelves on Tuesday, he wasn't the one who leaked a nude photo of himself that appeared on the Web in early March.
In an interview with MTV, the singer dismisses the theory he released the photo in order to generate interest in his upcoming album. "I didn't want to put no pictures out. That's not my intention," the singer said. "A lot of people were saying, 'Yo, he leaked the pictures, he was trying to get promotion ... for me, I was always a singer, so unless I'm planning on trying to do porn, I don't think I'd want to just leak my wang out to the world before my album comes out."
He added, "It was disappointing to me that it was out, because I was like, 'Man, now it's gonna [look like] a gimmick behind it. And I don't want a gimmick behind anything that I'm doing."
The photograph of Brown was leaked online on March 4, showing the singer standing in from of a bathroom mirror, taking the photo with his iPhone.
The full-frontal photo was taken recently as it shows Brown's newly dyed blond hair.
"Another day!! Another lesson! Another party!!" Brown wrote on Twitter on March 5. "I'm so thankful to have the support of my fans with my music! Love."
The R&B singer was recently granted a downgraded restraining order, which will allow him some contact with his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, following felony assault charges in 2009.
Brown is still on probation after pleading guilty to assaulting Rihanna in February 2009. The singer admitted striking his then-girlfriend in a rented car after leaving a pre-Grammy Awards party two years ago.
Brown was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service and was ordered by the courts to receive domestic violence courses for a year.
In late February, more photos leaked online of Rihanna's face following the incident. Brown reportedly responded and deleted a comment on Twitter following the photo release.
"It's ironic how 'somebody' put this out right around my album time! Wow! I guess that's supposed to be strategic chess move. Unbelievable," Brown wrote, according to MTV. "The Devil is always busy!! But when u have a destiny, nothing or no one can stop what God has planned!"
Brown's next album, "F.A.M.E." comes out on March 22, 2011.
