OC police seek Fresno kidnapping suspect

SANTA ANA, Calif.

The door to room 307 was badly damaged after being kicked in Monday at around 11:30 p.m. at the Quality Suites John Wayne Airport hotel in Santa Ana.

Witnesses allege Clifford Green, 24, broke in and kidnapped his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend, Briana Brooks.

"I needed to get her help because she was screaming really loud," said Brooks' friend "Marie."

"Marie," who doesn't want to be identified for safety reasons, says she had invited Brooks to stay in her hotel room.

Marie says Green and Brooks had been in a two-year relationship. Brooks wanted out. She left Green in Fresno and came to Santa Ana to be with friends and family.

"He had threatened her in a text message, saying, 'I'm going to kill you,'" said Marie. She says half an hour later, Green showed up.

"He just picked her up and dragged her out and started throwing her down the stairs," said Marie.

"She was screaming the whole time, 'Help me, someone call the cops, please help me,'" said "Taylor," another witness to the incident.

Several people witnessed the kidnapping. But some, like Richard Mendoza, who injured his ankle, couldn't stop Green from throwing Brooks into his car. Green is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs nearly 200 pounds.

"We wanted to help, but I couldn't help -- we were afraid that he was armed. We didn't know if he was carrying any weapons," said Richard Mendoza, who witnessed the incident.

Late Tuesday afternoon Brooks was found at a house in Fresno. Fresno Police located Brooks, and paramedics transported her to a hospital for immediate medical care. Her exact condition was not released. Her injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.

Police are looking for Green. He may be driving his 2002 Buick Lacrosse, a black four-door sedan with California license plate #4UMR856.

"He has a long criminal history for weapons violations as well as narcotics violations," said Santa Ana Police Corporal Anthony Bertagna. "He has a $100,000 warrant out for his arrest right now."

Green faces a list of other charges, including kidnapping. If you have information related to the case, you're asked to call Santa Ana Police at (714) 245-8390.

If you see Green, you're asked to call 911.
