The Los Angeles County district attorney charged Michael /*Lohan*/ on Wednesday.
The 50-year-old is accused of physically assaulting his live-in girlfriend Kate Major on Monday after the two got into an argument in their /*West Hollywood*/ home.
If convicted, Michael Lohan faces up to one year in county jail.
He has a history of arrests in New York over allegations of harassment from ex-girlfriends.
The "Mean Girls" star and her father are reportedly estranged.
