Soldier in LA teen rape to appear in court

LOS ANGELES

Daniel Brazelton, 20, escaped from military custody 11 days following his arrest on the rape charge on Feb. 3. He was the subject of a nationwide, weeklong manhunt.

He had made his break while in a military van en route to the Liberty County jail. Brazelton somehow jumped out, outran the guards and got away.

Brazelton managed to get from Georgia to Daytona Beach, Fla., before he was arrested again.

His alleged victim is expected to testify at Brazelton's preliminary hearing. The teen went before news cameras earlier this month to demand answers from the U.S. Army after Brazelton escaped. She says she was traumatized by the news. She was expecting the alleged attacker to be locked up behind bars. Then she found out he was able to break away from his military guards.
