Rainy weather catches some by surprise in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif.

In downtown Ventura, some people were more prepared than others for the soggy weather.

"I was here at work and left without my umbrella," said Ventura resident Terri Kramer, doing all she could to stay dry. "We don't get rain very often, so we don't prepare for it."

But not all who ended up wet were caught by surprise.

"It doesn't bother me," said Michael Astorino of Ventura. "I do have to walk everywhere. I don't have the proper clothing. That's the bottom line."

By early evening, there were no flash flood advisories in Ventura.

Steady rain was expected to continue in Ventura County through the evening, becoming partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers after midnight as temps dip to the low 40s.

The forecast for Thursday was partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the morning, before it turned to mostly cloudy with a chance of rain in the afternoon. It was expected to rain in the evening, with lows in the mid 40s to lower 50s.
