George Lopez has apologized after comparing actress and "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Kirstie Alley to a pig on his talk show "Lopez Tonight."
"She did a nice job, her little hooves tapping away," Lopez had said on Wednesday night's episode. "Before the show, she went to the market, and then she had roast beef and this is her going all the way home."
The then show cut to the Geico insurance firm's "Little Piggy" ad, which features a pig screaming "weee."
"I misjudged the joke," Lopez said on his Twitter page on Thursday, March 24. "No malice was intended and I apologize to Kirstie."
Alley has struggled with her weight for years but also poked fun at it herself on her own television shows. She said on her Twitter page that she did not consider Lopez's comments an apology, but added later that she forgives him.
"Take life as lightly as u can and then move on ...even u George," she said.
She had said earlier: "I don't need or want ur apology...I want your kidney dude..on behalf of ur X and all the women uv insulted...give it back."
Lopez's wife Ann filed for divorce in November 2010 after 17 years of marriage, following rumors that the comedian had cheated. In 2005, his wife donated a kidney to Lopez, who suffers from a genetic ailment.
Alley recently dropped dropped about 60 pounds and credits her new diet program, "Organic Liaison."
Lopez had on Wednesday's episode also poked fun at "Dancing With the Stars" contestants Ralph Macchio, Wendy Williams and Kendra Wilkinson. He accused Macchio, star of the original "Karate Kid" movies who is also competing on "Dancing With the Stars," of wearing a hairpiece, and said Wilkinson, a Playboy model, "pictured the audience picturing her naked" in a bid to calm her nerves.
Lopez also suggested Williams was a man. The three have not commented publicly on Lopez's remarks.
