High levels of PFCs may bring early menopause

March 25, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
Chemicals found in everyday household items, including non-stick pans, clothes, carpets and paint, have been linked to early menopause.

A new study of more than 25,000 women found high levels of per fluoro carbons, or PFCs, in those who had early menopause.

The women who experienced early menopause also had a sizeable decrease in their estrogen levels.

Chemical companies say their product is safe, but the Environmental Protection Agency has expressed concern about its effect on humans and wildlife.
