2 arrested in Oxnard for attacking student

OXNARD, Calif.

A Rio Mesa High School student was attacked on the 3300 block of Cortez St. The victim and witnesses to the incident told police the two attackers beat the victim with hands, feet and metal knuckles.

The victim suffered numerous injuries to head and face. He was treated for the injuries at Ventura County Medical Center.

Investigators located and arrested two male suspects, 17 and 16 years old, at about 6:45 p.m. on the 400 block of Garonne in Oxnard.

Bloody clothing and metal knuckles were found at the residence where the suspects were located.

The two suspects were arrested and held at juvenile hall without bail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

Gang investigators were trying to determine if the attack was gang-related.
