Rappers Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre were among those who paid their respects at a memorial service at the Queen Mary Dome.
A thousand fans were also allowed to attend.
The 41-year-old, whose real name was Nathaniel Hale, died earlier this month from stroke-related complications.
He started out singing in church choirs and shot to fame in 1994 with the song "Regulate."
The Long Beach native is credited with helping to define the sound of West Coast hip-hop.
