Lindsay Lohan is not dropping her surname to distance herself from her estranged father, according to the actress' publicist.
Lohan's mother, Dina Lohan had told news outlets that Lindsay would be going by her first name and that the rest of the family would go by her maiden name, Sullivan, but the actress' representative and father have denied these claims.
"Lindsay Lohan has not changed her name," Lohan's representative said in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com. "It remains Lindsay Lohan."
Michael Lohan, who was charged earlier this week for assaulting his girlfriend Kate Major and has a history of legal troubles, denied the claims.
"I don't think it's true at all, I would never imagine any of my kids changing their name, especially Lindsay." Michael Lohan told "Headline News". "Could it have to do with the drama with Kate? You never know. With all due respect... Dina has said a lot of things over the years that have never come to fruition."
Dina and Michael Lohan got divorced in 2007, which is when Lindsay was arrested for drunk driving and cocaine possession and began her downward spiral through jail, alcohol and drug abuse and rehab.
The 24-year-old actress is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing on April 22, during which prosecutors are expected to present evidence against her and determine if there is enough to warrant a trial for a grand theft case, after allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, CA boutique. Also, a judge is set to determine if she violated her probation stemming from a 2007 drunk driving case.
