In Murrieta, what started out as a call about a dog attack ended with a major pot bust.

Police officers responded to a report about a loose pit bull trying to attack another dog on Thursday morning. Officers say when they arrived the pit bull lunged at them so they opened fire.

After being hit with a bullet, the dog retreated back to a house on the 39600 block of Wildflower Road. The occupants of the house were determined to be the dog's owners, but additional investigation showed one resident was growing and selling marijuana.

That person was arrested. The dog was taken to the vet but so far there's no update on its condition.
