OTRC: Rainn Wilson: 'Super' is for 'rebels, weirdos'

Rainn Wilson talks to OnTheRedCarpet.com at the Los Angeles premiere of 'Super,' which hit theaters on April 1, 2011.

Audiences will get to see Rainn Wilson in a different kind of role when "The Office" star flexes he muscles and violent side in the new dark comedy "Super."

In the film, which hit theaters on Friday, April 1, the "Office" television star plays a short-order cook who transforms himself into the superhero The Crimson Bolt after his wife (Live Tyler) has an affair with a drug dealer played by Kevin Bacon.

"This is not a movie for everybody," Wilson told Rachel Smith of OnTheRedCarpet.com at the film's recent premiere in Los Angeles. "This is for the rebels, and the weirdos, and the slackers, and the people with the twisted imaginations and the outsiders. This is their movie."

Wilson also talked about working with his "Juno" co-star Ellen Page. In the film, Page plays the side kick to The Crimson Bolt called Boltie.

"It was great. You know I worked with her on 'Juno' just for a short spell. She's brilliant in this movie. She steals the movie. You've never seen Ellen Page like this before. She's demented, completely off her rocker. "

So how did Wilson gear up to play a superhero? Well the actor says he didn't hit the gym. "I didn't do any training or anything like that. I did have to learn how to shoot guns. So, I trained with that," Wilson said.

"I may never have this chance again, to be like a Charles Bronson, or a Chuck Norris," he added. "But the whole last part of the movie is like an action movie like blowing off people's heads with shot guns, all that good stuff."
