Two skateboarders were arrested in Costa Mesa Saturday for attempting to rob two men on bikes.

The two bicyclists were confronted by skateboarders Matthew Hromin, 24, and Steven Smith, 25, at the intersection of Santa Ana Ave. and 17th St., according to Costa Mesa Police.

The skaters tried to take a wallet and sunglasses. In a struggle, one of the suspects allegedly swung a skateboard at one of the cyclists. The bike riders chased the skaters. One of the cyclists called 911.

Police arrested Hromin and Smith in different locations. The two suspects were booked on robbery and assault charges.
