The supermodel got super scores Monday night. And the football great scored a dancing touchdown. But it was a surprise fall that had the audience at first gasping, and then later applauding one couple's guts to go on.
Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had barely started dancing when he experienced a muscle problem that caused them both to fall to the floor.
They got back up, the audience cheered, and despite the fall, Kirstie and Maks still scored triple 7s.
"It was a test that nobody really wants to go through but once it happens, it's the biggest test you can possibly imagine," said Maks. "And that's what the whole live TV is all about, and the way she recovered was just amazing."
"I was a deer in headlights because when it happened, it was so unreal," said Kirstie. "I was like, 'Is he being funny?' And then I thought, 'Is he hurt?' And then he stood up and said, 'Let's just keep dancing.' It's like, OK!"
Their's was not the only drama of the night: Kendra Wilkinson got lost in smoke.
"I couldn't see my steps in front of me," said Kendra.
And Kym Johnson almost slid into the orchestra pit.
"I did. I almost ended up in Harold Wheeler's lap," said Kym.
Hines Ward and Kym still sambaed their way to 25 out of 30, tying for first place with Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin, who waltzed their way to the top.
"It was just beyond incredible. The experience was unbelievable," said Petra. "I didn't expect to have such results."
With a score of 23, Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas tied for third with a smoky rumba from Kendra and her pro, Louis Van Amstel.
Then a three-way tie for fifth among Kirstie and Maks, Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff and Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke.
Chris was proud of what he did for the competition's "story night," honoring his late mother.
"This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance for me to do something as a tribute to my mother," said Chris. "And you could have given me a zero. You could have given me a 30. I'd still be up in the clouds right now."
One point behind them, with 20, Romeo and his partner Chelsie Hightower tied for eighth with Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskaya.
"This is an angel. This is my angel," said Sugar Ray.
"But sometimes I grow horns," said Anna.
"Yes you do. Yes you do," said Sugar Ray.
Talk show host Wendy Williams landed in last place with 15 points.
One of those 10 couples will be eliminated from the competition Tuesday night.
