Will Cheryl Cole join Simon Cowell's new FOX show "The X Factor"?
Cole, a 27-year-old British pop singer, has been a judge on the original UK version of the talent series since 2008. Cowell, who left "American Idol" last year, has sat on the panel since the debut of "The X Factor" in 2004. He is producing the U.S. version of the show, which is set to premiere later this year. Cole has not commented.
"The judging panel is still being discussed," a spokesperson for the U.S. version of "The X Factor" told OnTheRedCarpet.com on Tuesday, April 5.
Grammy-winning music mogul Antonio "L.A." Reid was confirmed as a judge on the U.S. version of the series last month. The UK newspaper The Mirror quoted him on Monday, April 4, as saying: "We're gonna compete against 'American Idol' just fine. I'm very confident. But along with Simon Cowell and Cheryl, I don't know who the other judge is."
Auditions for the U.S. version of "The X Factor" are currently being held across the United States. The show is seeking undiscovered talent 12 years old or over, in solo artists or groups who will perform in front of the panel in hopes of winning a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music.
