Man killed, girlfriend shot at San Bernardino home

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Tuesday along the 1400 block of North Wall Street.

Authorities say 42-year-old Issah Jones and 47-year-old Barbara Crumity heard a knock on the door. When they went to answer it, shots were fired. The bullets went right through two metal doors.

Neighbors described at least a dozen bullet casings scattered on the ground near the home.

The couple had only been there for a few months. Police have no motive, no witnesses and no suspects.

The two were rushed to an area hospital, where Jones was declared dead. Crumity was listed in stable condition.

"Somebody evidently had a gripe with them. I mean, they've had a couple parties since they've been here. Nothing really noisy, nothing really loud, you know, normal," said neighbor Dan Morgan.

Residents say the area has seen its share of trouble in the past, and for some, this latest shooting was the last straw.

"Definitely we are moving. This month, we're gone. We have to go," said neighbor Erica Gardner.

Others plan to keep their heads down and stick it out.

"We'll be here until I die, I guess. You know, hopefully I won't get in the way of one of those, but you never know, not around here you don't," said Morgan.

Officials are asking for the public's help in solving this crime. If you have any information regarding this case, you're urged to contact San Bernardino police at (909) 384-5656.
