Study: Alcohol linked to cancer risk

The study by the British Medical Journal found that excessive drinking increases the risk of certain types of cancer.

Research released Friday shows excessive drinking increases the risk of certain types of cancer.

These types include cancers of the upper digestive track, liver and colon.

The large European study, published by the British Medical Journal, also found that one in ten of all cancers in men and one in 33 of all cancers in women are caused by past or current alcohol intake.

Half of these cases occurred when the subjects drank more than the recommended daily limit.
